Stainless Steel 442 Sheet and Plates have good corrosion resistance, high harness, toughness and strength, medium resistance to carburizing and nitrogen-containing, oxygen-depleted gases, resistant to oxidizing sulphurous gases, highly malleable, suitable for cold forming as well as hammer and die forging, etc.
Stainless Steel 442 Sheets have good scaling resistance to about 1700/1800 degrees F (925/980 degrees C) and may be used for furnace and heat exchanger parts as well as certain parts in steam boilers. Stainless Steel 442 Plates have low High-temperature strength, and this should be noted when designing for high-temperature application.
